Principal Product Owner / Head of Development – London.

My client, is one of the world’s most comprehensive specialist multi-channel marketing & services group, comprising of an integrated network of worldwide machinery professionals that specializes in creating and reinvigorating brands is now looking for a new Principal Product Owner / Head of Development. Objective:

Driving the strategy and execution of online/mobile products.

Product Management

 Strategy Development
 Competitive analysis and benchmarking
 The planning phases includes developing personas, wireframing, creating persuasive scenarios, storyboarding, and prototyping
 Working closely with the in house user experience team to design best in class products
 Working directly with in house and offshore developers to successfully implement solutions that combine quality with functional excellence (Testing, measuring and optimizing).
 Execution that includes site search, real-time data syndication, lead generation.
 Identifying areas for improvement in products through a combination of web analytics, user research and insight.
 Understanding of the needs of internal stakeholders
 Input into business cases for new product initiatives
 Ensuring that products meet the original business objectives
 Product marketing management – manage new user acquisition and customer reactivation/retention via SEO & Multi-channel Marketing
 Work with the analysis team to highlight success of products and identify new areas of improvement

Product Delivery

 Clear understanding of agile/ waterfall development methodology
 Gather high level product requirements from relevant partners
 Manage proposed projects through approval process
 Plan and lead cross-functional workshops to efficiently capture and prioritise business requirements.
 Document business requirements, capture & manage comments and chart through the approval process. Own these requirements through the project lifecycle.
 Manage trade-offs between the supplier groups in terms of functionality, cost and time.
 Manage handover and acceptance phases prior to launch; ensure entry criteria are completed and that appropriate sign-offs are achieved.
 Train operational groups where necessary.
 Post-launch: Provide a period of extended support to the operations team to ensure that production issues are manageable.

Product Ownership

 Act as the business owner of all client facing product functionality
 Maintain roadmap for future enhancements to existing products
 Working with Legal as necessary, support the drafting and agreement of client and supplier contracts and Service Level Agreements.
 Work closely with Sales and marketing to identify, evaluate and define new business opportunities and champion key opportunities through the internal evaluation process.
 Work to prioritize new opportunities relative to the overall business impact
 Support the RFQ/RFP process
 Maintain expert level knowledge of market developments in commercial and technology terms.

New Product Research

 Collation of research and insights
 Create ideas into business cases
 Definition and communication of product strategy, encompassing customer proposition
 Pricing
 Marketing

 Distribution

 Portfolio fit

 Market and competitor analysis
 Consideration of established & emerging technical capabilities Vs. company data assets
 Primary & secondary customer research
 Financial analysis and modelling

New Product Concept Development

 Mobilisation of a cross-functional project team
 Design customer experience, journeys and usability
 Define business requirements
 Manage technical build by IT suppliers
 Quality assurance through testing
 Launch

- Management of commercial relationships with third-party suppliers (notably IT developers) and partners
- Communication – Product positioning and developing the message.
- Develop product champions

 Product briefing
 Stakeholder engagement

Commercial and Operational Plans

 Plan creation which transitions the new product from project to business-as-usual, including:
- Product roadmap of future enhancements

- Marketing plan

- Operating plan ( KPIs, Key drivers)

- Product operational processes and maintenance (e.g. Web Analytics, complaints, compliance)

Web Analytics

 Analyze the business impact of changes to web/mobile in regards to usage and performance metrics
 Definition, management and production of standardized web metrics
 Build forecast models to predict effects of website/mobile changes
 Interpret and communicate findings to product management and the broader analytics team
 Proactively share analysis and insights with rest of the team to promote on-going learning and development of analytic talent
 Execute and drive web analytics & behavioural analysis, tools, and implementations.
 Develop and conduct strategic analysis utilizing web analytics tools and technologies. Leverage the analytics solutions to continually drive and find product issues and opportunities.
 Engage with stakeholders to evaluate the business case of new features prior to product launch/updates.
