Role:
To plan, execute and manage User Experience projects in-line with my client’s strategy and overall project direction from HQ.
To develop compelling and usable user interfaces for features, services & applications for existing products and advanced product concepts.
To work across a diverse range of product areas, undertaking projects within teams consisting of other designers and researchers from the very early innovation and concept development stages.
Lead the creation of usable interface designs as a hands-on UI designer with a high level of design expertise.
Create known UX & UI design collateral including Concept Definition Documents, Concept Screen Designs, Scenarios, Wireframes, and Workflows for communication to other groups within the company, and potential external partners.
Support the creation of ‘Experience’ prototypes to communicate design strategy, concepts for presentation, for verification of interaction hypotheses, and for user research and concept testing.
Work closely with product designers, interface designers and graphical designers based in the same office (and potentially the wider business) to ensure a seamless product design experience.
Collaborate with User Experience team (and wider studio) to advocate, communicate and raise the profile UX and UI design as an integral part of ‘Total Experience Design’.
Duties and responsibilities:
Develop user interfaces for features, services & applications for existing products and advanced product concepts.
Develop interaction design collateral, communicate usage scenarios, document design language covering icons and widgets, animations, transitions.
Create documentation necessary to communicate these design concepts and solutions through the whole product development process.
Ensure the end UI development results meet market (consumer) demands, technical specifications and requirements.
Where appropriate, lead the research and analysis of user User Interface trends covering interface trends, features and interaction design languages.
Benchmark different market offerings and solutions according to basic criteria into an understandable framework.
Communicate and cooperate with UI design development in HQ and with other internal disciplines (Product Design, Design Intelligence and Research, Engineering, & Marketing).
Where appropriate, plan and collaborate with third party consultancies to execute user research, UI expert reviews and concept tests.
Maintain a network of external consultancies and individuals to support User Interface projects.
Performance standards:
Manage projects to ensure deadlines are met while maintaining quality standards.
Ensure project results satisfy the given briefs in terms of aesthetics, physical and psychological Interfaces between users and products.
Recommend appropriate process when timescales and budgets are not optimal.
Ensure the ‘look and feel’ of the design solutions satisfy my client’s identity guidelines as well as their design language.
Provide input where appropriate to enhance overall quality of UX projects.
Build trust with team members and other teams through appropriate and persuasive design.
Resolve project-related issues in a professional, timely and logical manner.
Demonstrate initiative and contribute to problem solving.
Demonstrate initiative to evolve and improve presentation formats for appropriate communication.
Demonstrate ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
BA or MA in Multimedia design, Interaction Design, Information Design. Graphic Design or Product Design.
Minimum of 3-5 years hands-on experience in interface design with sound knowledge of user-centred design principles and usability.
Experience of working with multi-national companies and in addition, design consultancies.
Must possess portfolio of original user interface design work with an array of interface design experience. (For example, experience in designing for mobile, small LCD’s, TV’s, Web, etc)
Strong visual presentation skills with an eye for detail and accuracy a must.
Proficient to a high level in design packages such as Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, etc.
Must demonstrate understanding of how market forces, user needs, design, technology work together to produce an integrated user experience.
Must demonstrate creative and innovative approach to design.
Have a passion for design and a point of view about their work, ability to encourage this in others.
Ability to work and communicate with other design functions.
Excellent written and spoken English.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Leader with project supervisory responsibilities for Middleweight staff.
Shares knowledge with less experienced peers.
Supervising consultancies to deliver research/testing.
