KB Europe is currently advising on an opening for a Build Engineer / Release Engineer. Our client is one of Europe’s most progressive companies specializing in Social and Business networking. The position is based at my client’s headquarters in Hamburg, Germany.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

• Provision of development and test environments
• Continuous improvement of build, integration and deployment processes, in particular by automating corresponding tasks
• Support contact for incidents relating to development and test environments
• Trainer for configuration management tools (e.g., Git, Puppet, Chef, etc.)

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Degree in computer science, software engineering, or other similar field
• 3-5 years relevant experience
• proficient with Git and at least one other configuration management tool (e.g., Puppet, Chef)
• Experienced with UNIX Scripting (e.g., Bash, Perl, Ruby)
• Thorough knowledge of Linux and networking (e.g., Apache, Phusion Passenger)
• Experience as software developer or system administrator is a plus
• Knowledge of Rails deployment tools (Capistrano) a plus
• Optional, but beneficial: Experience with virtualization solutions (e.g., VMware)
• Excellent communication skills
• Fluency in German, very good knowledge of English
